Basic requirements for die casting alloys

2020-05-04

The properties of the alloy include service performance and process performance. Service performance is the general requirement of alloy in service conditions of casting, including physical, mechanical and chemical properties. As for the process performance, for die casting, according to the process characteristics of die casting, the alloy used for die casting should have the following properties.

(1) The liquid fluidity is good, and it is easy to fill the complex cavity, so as to obtain the die casting with good surface quality.

(2) It has enough strength and plasticity at high temperature.

(3) The shrinkage rate is small to avoid deformation and crack of casting during demoulding, and help to ensure the dimensional accuracy of die casting.

(4) The range of crystallization temperature is small, which can prevent excessive shrinkage cavity and porosity.

(5) It has less corrosiveness to the mold cavity.
